Mad City Sessions

Sponsored by the Wisconsin Alumni Student Board.

For the past year, I have been tirelessly working on the production of a completely new event called Mad City Sessions. The event included two professionally recorded concert videos in the style of NPR’S Tiny Desk Concerts, along with a live performance at the end of the All-Campus Party week celebration.

The process started during October of 2021, as we reached out to the entire student body for submissions. After receiving many mp3 file audition tapes, I worked with students at WSUM 91.7FM Student Radio and EMMIE Magazine to fairly grade each submission with a rubric noting both the technicality and creativity in each performance. After narrowing down the results to two finalists, we rented professional audio and video recording equipment to properly record the performances in our beautiful Alumni Center building. Additionally, working with students in charge of our Lake Street Bash block party event, we were able to rent a stage and set up the band to perform in front of Lake Mendota on Friday, April 29th 2022.

See below for the Mad City Sessions recordings from Diego Benitez and Game Theory.
